Royals Dynasty Program
As the colts work strongly in the 2016 finals series the underage program is also heating up. The ‘Pilot’ program tentatively named “EPFC Royals Dynasty Program” is a rejig of the Royals Academy and houses what used to be called development squads.
This year’s WAFL Talent Carnival includes two year 8 teams, two year 9 teams and a single year 10 team that compete during the term 3 school holidays and a Lightning Carnival at Seacrest and Round Robin Carnival at Dianella Open Space beginning with the Round Robin Carnival this September 10 at Seacrest Oval against Subiaco and West Perth Football Clubs.
The Royal Dynasty Program began with the year 9 group back in March this year and has built to include year 8 and 10 participants drawn from the 2016 Academy and from within the District teams competing in the Central Conference Competition. August saw the selection of players in the 5 teams and a jumper presentation that demonstrate the enthusiasm and passion of our wider Royals Family.
Overall the EPFC Royals Dynasty Program seeks to engage interested players from the Royals Development District in a curriculum based program that strives to help players ‘get better’ and to find the ‘level of their talent’. Those that have developed to a point that they will benefit from a higher level experience can be selected into the playing squads that are then exposed to the WAFL pathway. Local coaches are developed and exposed the same way with the overall aim of the program to help the Royals District be a fertile ground for learning, developing and enjoying footy, while developing quality footballers for local clubs as well as the EPFC.
Royals Country players are developing in a similar fashion within the South West Program and they will get a chance to both represent the South West team in the WAFL Talent Carnival and the EPFC. As we add in the Royals Country Talent the teams get very strong!
The 2016 year 10 team rolls over and becomes the 2017 16s training squad and they work toward developing into Colts footballers under returning Coach Nick Cox. The year 8s are led by Geoff Abbot and the year 9s by Mike Gladwell. There is a large team of coaches supporting these three from within our District, Colts and suproting programs including local product and senior listed player Alex Vernon who lead the Strength and Conditioning team.
Jamie Douse, Warren Dean and Josh Rayson lead our Royal Country players from both the Leewin and Lower south west development areas and they too are supported by a group of quality local coaches.
Thanks to all that have joined in with us as we have worked through 2016 and all the best for your continued development. For those representing both the South West and EPFC in the upcoming Carnival – have a great time!
