Central Conference & Royals District Grand Finals

The 2016 Royals District Junior Football Competition came to a finish this September concluding with some great Grand Finals held over an exciting weekend. T

The Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 Red Division Grand Finals were held at Lightning Park that day in front of a healthy crowd. The Year 7s with Ballajura JFC coming out ahead of the hard working Coolbinia JFC in a thrilling contest.  In the Year 8 competition Mt Lawley-Inglewood JFC walked away as Premiers with a victory over Noranda JFC in a close encounter. The Year 9 final turned into a one way affair with Mt Hawthorn JFC too strong for Ellenbrook JFC. The last game of the day was a battle of the Demon’s District in the Year 10 Red competition with South Perth JFC defeating the resilient Belmont JFC in a nail biter.

Attention soon turned to the other Central Conference Grand Finals which were to be played across the other two districts, Perth and Swans District. In the Year 8 Blue Division, Bassendean JFC defeated Ballajura in one of the games of the season. At Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean, Ellenbrook White came up against Hills Rangers JFC. But it was Th Rangers who came away with the chocolates in a tough contest. In the final match of the day at Lynwood Ferndale Oval, the Mighty Ballajura JFC were defeated in a hard contest against Thornlie Green.

The weekend of finals brought to a close a great season for the Royals District and the success of an added age group to the Central Conference Competition. The District would like to finally thank Phil Clarke and his team at Noranda JFC for hosting this year’s Grand Finals for East Perth.

Cardies Kid Program - North Perth PS

The Royals District delivered its inaugural Royals Kids program at North Perth PS in Term 3 of this year. It’s officially titled “Cardies Kids” as the local junior AFL club for North Perth PS is the Mt Hawthorn Cardinals JFC. The reasoning behind this is because the Royals Districts places an emphasis on creating a stronger connection between the clubs and schools within the district through all of its programs.

Cardies Kids was delivered over 6 weeks for year 3 – 6 students who had not been exposed to AFL before. The primary focus of the program was fun and skill development. Royals District Community Development Officer Shaun Norman thought the program was a success and believes several of the 20+ participants will make the transition from Cardies Kids across to the Mt Hawthorn Cardinals JFC for season 2017.

“It was great to see the week by week improvement in the student’s skills, game knowledge and overall enjoyment of AFL. I’d like to thank George Naumovski who is the P.E Teacher at North Perth PS for assisting the Royals District in making Cardies Kids an enjoyable program for all involved” Norman said.
