Colts & Dynasty Update

Thursday, November 24, 2016 - 9:44 AM

Both the Colts and 16s programs have begun with successful inductions over 2 sessions capturing over 150 players and their families.

Adam Pickering has returned to lead the Colts and has embraced the big numbers that have engaged with the program pre-Christmas as the squad prepares themselves for season 2017.

Nick Cox has also returned to head the 16s program. The 16s Program is now referred to by the WAFC as the year 10/11 WAFL Carnival. An East Perth representative side for this carnival will be selected from the ‘Monarchs’ squad, which is at the top of the East Perth Football Club’s ‘Royal Dynasty Program’. The ‘Royals Dynasty Program’ aims to increase foster talent, increase football knowledge and develop outstanding characters within the East Perth zones.

The inductions included an introduction and welcome to the club by East Perth Talent Manager Clint Degebrodt. Following this Adam and Nick spoke to their respective groups about expectations and objectives for 2017. The players were then given information on nutrition, not only how to prepare for training and games but also what they should be doing during the week. The boys then made their way onto Leederville Oval for testing and skills sessions with some terrific preseason times and pleasing results all round.

Sessions for the 16s and Colts players residing in the South West have also begun. These sessions are conducted by lead by Clint Degebrodt and South West Talent Manager Jamie Douse. Douse has been impressed with the condition and touch of the returning players, “A few of the boys have had a really good rest after the season and still returned with some good 2km times. They are also handling the ball nicely for this time of year."

The sessions in the South West are for talented players residing in Augusta, Yallingup, Dunsborough Busselton and Margaret River and aim to increase the groups ball and contact skills as well as the knowledge and understanding of football. The early signs are promising and the Club is confident we will see a continuation of the strong representation from this area again in 2017.

Josh Rayson has begun preparing the Lower South West players for the upcoming season with strength, power, conditioning and skills sessions in Manjimup. Once again Jamie Douse lends his expertise to this group and players from Pemberton, Northcliffe, Manjimup, Bridgetown and Boyup Brook are strongly represented at these sessions. This will once again be reflected within the 16s and Colts Programs as Lower South West Players continue to be among the strong country presence in the 16s and Colts Programs.

The club is impressed and excited with the effort and the quality of the work being done by players, coaches and staff in the East Perth Development and Recruitment zones.
