Mrs Brown's Boys For Beau

Wednesday, February 14, 2018 - 9:38 AM

Mal Brown took centre stage on last Friday, along side his son Campbell and Lions Champion Jonathon Brown to help raise funds for the continued recovery of Beau Chatley.

The 240 strong crowd was thouroughly entertained listening to stories of the boys adventures both during and after their playing days. Adrian Barich did a steller job as MC. As did David Christison who conducted the Auction.

Through all the laughs the purpose of the lunch was never far from mind. The Chatley Family and East Perth Football Club would like to thank the WA Football Community for banding together and supporting the lunch. With WA Football legends in the room like Bill Walker, John Todd, Bill Dempsey and Ross Glendinning just to name a few the atmostphere was electric. There was also many notable WA personalities including legendary jockey JJ Miller.

The lunch raised $110,000 for Beau's ongoing medical and living expenses. CEO Dean Turner gave a touching insight to what Beau and his family have gone through over the past 18 months. Whilst Beau is able to walk for short periods of time and drive, he was assessed to have a 46% physical impairment. Whilst his strength and determination have meant this figure is far lower than doctors predicted at the time of the incident, it is still significant and Beau has a strict rehab program which consists of many hours a week.

Thank you to Mal, Campbell and Jonathon who donated their time for the luncheon. Adrian and David also volunteered their highly sought after and regarded services. Many thanks also go to the other WAFL Clubs who donated or attended the function, the West Coast Eagles who donated to the auction and attended, the Fremantle Dockers, the Walsh Family, JLT Insurance, Glen Bartlett, the AFL and the WAFC. There were many other people and companies who donated and pledeged throughout the day whose generosity is greatly appreciated as well.
