East Perth District Awards Three Life Memberships
Three loyal servants of football in the East Perth District were awarded life memberships at the EPDFDC AGM held last night.
District Chair, Jo Del Prete, Competition Director Ang Barbaro and EPFC representative Joe Barbaro were all awarded life memberships for their outstanding service to football in the East Perth District.
Jo Del Prete's involvement in football began while at University in the early 90's as Freeball coordinator (precursor to Auskick) and delivering level 1 coach accreditation courses for the WA Football Development Trust. Jo has now become one of the pre-eminent sounding boards for community football in WA, having served on a number of review panels, including that which led to the formation of the District Model in 2003. Jo took on the role of East Perth District Chair when the model was introduced 10 years ago, a position she still holds today.
Ang Barbaro began his service to football in our district as the secretary of the East Perth Football Club Junior Development Committee in 1996, a position he held until 2003 when the new district model was launched. Between 2003 and 2005, Ang was the coordinator of junior development with the EPFC, which involved organising several key events including the country carnival. In 2006, Ang was appointed as the Assistant Junior Competition Director of the EPDFDC and since 2012 is the Junior Competition Director.
Joe Barbaro has been a board member of the EPFC since 1997. During that time, he has been a loyal and strong advocate of junior football in our district, often providing the key link between the EPFC and its junior breeding grounds. Joe's involvement in junior football began in 1987 as a junior coach at the Noranda JFC and in various school football competitions. In 1994, Joe took on the role of Secretary of the East Perth FC Junior Development Committee and in 1997, became Chairman of that committee until the formation of the district model in 2003. Since then, Joe has been the WAFL representative on the East Perth DFDC. He is also the East Perth District coordinator for the Eagles Cup Primary Interschool competition.
