Nominations are now open for The Sunday Times WA Football Volunteer of the Year Award.

Last year, East Perth District volunteer Luke McNiece won for the award after being nominated by the Coolbinia Bombers Junior Football Club.

WA Football Commission Club Development and Coaching Manager Glenn Morley congratulated Mr McNiece on winning the award and encouraged more people to nominate a volunteer in 2014.

“There was a record 2,114 nominations from around WA last year and we are aiming to top that this year,” he said.

“There are so many aspects of our game that just wouldn’t happen without the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and it’s really important that they are recognised.

“Volunteers are involved at all levels whether it’s in the canteen, umpiring, coaching or driving their kids to the game. Just like there are star players and star coaches, we want to recognise star volunteers and it is thanks to The Sunday Times that we can do this,” Mr Morley said.
