District Events - Nicky Winmar Football Carnival Nominations and AFL 9s Registration

The District have a couple of events coming up.
East Perth ‘Nicky Winmar Cup’ Squad
Nicky Winmar Cup 2015
The East Perth District is seeking Indigenous players born in 2000, 2001 or 2002 to participate in the Nicky Winmar Cup carnival for 2015.
A team representing East Perth will participate in the carnival, which will be held on Sunday 1st March at Bendigo Bank Stadium in Mandurah. The team will be coached by current East Perth league player, Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls and he will be assisted by other Indigenous players in the East Perth senior squad. Any other youth age coach in the District is also welcome to join the team as an assistant coach.
The squad will train together for about 4 weeks prior to the carnival at Altone Park in Beechboro. The team will represent East Perth and will play against teams from other WAFL clubs and country regions at the one-day carnival in March.
Last year the 2014 East Perth team had a very successful carnival by narrowly missing out on playing in the grand final. From this Carnival, the W.A. 15s Kickstart squad will be chosen, with the final team chosen to represent W.A. in the National Indigenous carnival.

East Perth District AFL 9’s Summer League – Registrations Now Open
The East Perth District will again be running AFL 9s competitions at Beatty Park in North Perth. These competitions will be held on Wednesday nights commencing week of the 4th February.
AFL 9s is a modified version of AFL Football that is non-contact and emphasises fun and fitness. Games are played between two teams of nine players on a reduced-sized field. The rules have been modified to ensure safety and enjoyment by all participants, regardless of skill or fitness levels.
