Ton up for JON
Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls is set to become the 2nd Royal in two weeks to bring up his 100th game. Oaks came to the club through the Northern Cobras Junior Football Club making his debut in 2005 as a 17 year old. His talent was quickly identified and in the 2005 draft was picked up at pick 8 by Richmond.
After 13 AFL games for Richmond, Jarrad returned to WA having been picked up by West Coast in 2010. Whilst on the Eagles list Jarrad played a handful of games for the Royals, however over the next 2 years injuries took their toll and Jarrad was delisted by the Eagles at the end of the 2011 season.
Oaks remained loyal to East Perth and signed on in 2012. Over the last couple of seasons injuries have subsided and Jarrad has become an integral part of the East Perth outfit. This year he has been the teams 'swing man' having played every position on the field up to Round 10. Football Operations Manager Mark Winnett said “The role Jarrad plays for the team generally varies from week to week, he is such a versatile player for us and therefore makes him an extremely important part of our football club and to see him get to 100 games with some of the injuries he has endured over his career is a fantastic effort by a quality person”
Jarrad is also a fantastic leader in the community. Away from football he works tirelessly in his position at the David Wirrapanda Foundation.
Make sure you get down to Steel Blue Oval on Saturday (1:40pm) to cheer Oaks and the boys on!
