McGinnity backs Royals for finals and future success

PATRICK McGinnity is just excited to be heading back to Claremont Oval to lead East Perth into Sunday's elimination final, but moreover, he is excited about what the future holds for the Royals and wants to be part of it.

McGinnity has committed himself to East Perth as co-captain the last two years after his 93-game AFL career at the West Coast Eagles came to an end as he prepares to lead the Royals into battle on Sunday.

East Perth returns to finals action having finished in fifth position to book a place against Claremont in the elimination final at Claremont which provides for a homecoming of sorts for McGinnity who is a product of the Tigers.

TABtouch Semi Finals this Sunday

This Sunday will see West Perth and Claremont clash heads in the 1st Semi Final, while Subiaco and South Fremantle will be vying for a spot in the 2018 McDonald's WAFL Grand Final when they clash heads in the 2nd Semi Final.

The 1st Semi Final will unfold at Joondalup Arena at 2.15pm and the 2nd Semi Final will get underway at Leederville Oval at 3.10pm

THE TABtouch WAFL Finals Series gets underway with weekend with South Fremantle and West Perth looking to book in a meeting with Subiaco while Claremont and East Perth fight to stay alive.

Following an exciting conclusion to the 2018 WAFL season where going into the final round three teams were all still competing for fifth position before East Perth won to eliminate both Perth and Peel Thunder.

The excitement didn’t end there with Claremont needing to beat Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval to secure a home final this weekend. It took the Tigers until the last kick of the game after the siren but Jye Bolton kicked truly for Claremont to win and secure home ground advantage.

Finals fever has hit the WAFL! The TABtouch Finals Series journey kicks off this Saturday when South Fremantle and West Perth clash in the Qualifying Final at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

The following day Claremont and East Perth go head-to-head in the Elimination Final at Claremont Oval for a place in the 2nd Semi Final.

There will be heaps of fun events and competitions happening at the two blockbuster finals clashes that fans can take part in, including the Carlton Draught Schooner Suit Race!

The WA Football League coaches competing in the 2018 TABtouch WAFL Finals Series fronted the media today, Wednesday August 29, at Optus Stadium.

The TABtouch WAFL Finals Series commence this weekend with the Qualifying Final at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday, September 1 and the Elimination Final at Claremont Oval on Sunday, September 2.

TABtouch Team of Round 21

IT was the last round of the 2018 WAFL season on Saturday and not only were spots in the finals on the line between East Perth, Peel Thunder and Perth, but it was the last chance for players to book their place in the TABtouch Team of the Year as well.

The stage was set for a fascinating finish to the WAFL season with East Perth, Perth and Peel Thunder all locked in a battle for the fifth position and to determine which team would take part in finals action in 2018.

As it turned out, East Perth thumped Peel Thunder 16.18 (114) to 4.6 (30) at Bendigo Bank Stadium to ensure a finals position and ending the season of the premiers of the past two seasons.

Round 21 Colts Wrap

THE teams taking part in finals in the WAFL Colts for 2018 might have been determined heading into Round 21 but the positions inside the top five certainly weren’t setting the stage for some fascinating results.

Coming into the last round of the home and away season, it was already confirmed that Subiaco, Peel Thunder, Swan Districts, East Fremantle and South Fremantle would be the teams taking part in the finals series for 2018.

While Claremont, West Perth, East Perth and Perth were out of finals contention, it had been a strongly competitive colts season with even the bottom three teams all recording three victories and being largely competitive throughout 2018.

The 2018 TABtouch WAFL Finals Series will commence on Saturday, September 1 with the Qualifying Final between South Fremantle (2nd) and West Perth (3rd) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval from 2.40pm.

Claremont (4th) and East Perth (5th) will battle it out in the Elimination Final the following day, September 2, at Claremont Oval from 2.40pm.
