Vale Alex ‘Marbles’ Wilson

The East Perth Football Club and WA Football has lost one of its great characters with the passing of Alex ‘Marbles’ Wilson.

Marbles joined the club as its Marketing Manager in 1984, becoming General Manager in 1985. He held this position until his retirement in January 2013 making him the longest serving Secretary/General Manager/CEO in the club’s history

Known for his wit and ability to turn a phrase, Marbles was able to attract many long-term sponsors, several of whom are still with the club, as well as having lifelong relationships with many past players and administrators.

The highlight of Marbles’ tenure was the famous ‘three-peat’ of the early 2000’s.

In retirement Marbles continued to be an active member of the club assisting with functions and match days.
