The 2025 WAFL Season has finally arrived! East Perth’s season commences this Saturday in the battle for Sullivan Logistics Stadium against Subiaco. After a brilliant 2024 season where the Royals finished top of the ladder and made it all to the Grand Final, unfortunately losing out to Peel Thunder. With some personnel changes in the off-season and some hard work on the track in the pre-season, the Royals are raring to go and take the extra step this year in a chase for the 2025 WAFL Premiership.

Players to Watch
There are a few new faces and returning faces to keep on eye this week.
Coby Burgiel: Joining us from the West Coast Eagles AFL team, Coby Burgiel makes his East Perth debut on the weekend to help fill the void in our midfield from departing players Mitch Crowden and Angus Schumacher. Coby’s speed and versatility will make him an asset to the team and is sure to be a new fan favourite.
Ben Middleton: Coming from Peel Thunder, Ben Middleton is also set to debut for club on Saturday adding some depth into our forward line. Standing at 193cm, Ben plays the role of a key forward well with a strong mark and booming kick.
Sebit Kuek: Another addition to our forward line this season and returning to the club after a stint with the Fremantle Dockers is Sebit Kuek. Sebit’s return will provide a spark to our team with skilful forward craft and blistering pace.
Jordyn Baker: Also returning to the club after two seasons with the West Coast Eagles is Jordyn Baker. In 2022, Jordyn finished 3rd in our Colts Best and Fairest. He comes back now with plenty of experience, pace and damaging kick coming off our half back line.
The Opposition
Subiaco come into 2025 after missing out finals in the previous season (7th Place, 6 wins, 12 losses). Their pre-season results are not good reading for them. However, this is a game that they also get themselves up for. Subiaco would be very keen to get a win over East Perth in Round 1. Recent history suggests this should a close match. Subiaco fell just short in the last match between these two teams (three-point margin). Expect a big effort from Subiaco this weekend.
