WAFLW Round Four Preview: East Perth v Perth

After the bye, our WAFLW team is back and ready to take on League newcomers Perth. Here’s the important things to note for this weekend’s football.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

The WAFLW State team was announced this week, and our mighty Royals had three inclusions. Sabella Banks, Courtney Lindgren, and Jess Verbrugge all made the team of 21 to take on South Australia in early May. Keep an eye out as they look to continue building on their recent form and take momentum into the state match. 

Makayla Pugliese-Thompson has begun the season strongly in defence. The Ellenbrook product is one of the Royals’ most experienced players and will have the task of limiting Perth’s scoring opportunities. 

THE OPPOSITION
Former Peel player Holly Britton has made a strong start to her career with Perth. She’s collected 23, 23, and 24 disposals in the first three League games of the season and brings plenty of experience to Perth. She made her WAFLW debut back in 2022 and played 27 League and 28 Rogers Cup games for Peel before making the switch to Lathlain.
Queenslander Jasmine Single had a strong debut match as she collected 21 disposals against Peel in Round One.
AFLW recruit Isabella Shannon played her first game in the WAFLW in Round Three. Originally from the Dandenong Stingrays, Shannon played 17 games for St Kilda in the AFLW and will bring plenty of class to this young Perth side.

This is Perth’s first season in the WAFLW.
