Royals Recruiting Update
East Perth’s impressive off season has continued with the signing of former Brisbane Lion Nick Robertson and young key defender Corey Watts from the Sandringham Dragons.
Regarded as one of the Lions’ hardest working players, Robertson was an integral member of the Brisbane’s best 22 during 2017 and 2018, playing 42 of a possible 44 games.
In 2019, Robertson played five games for the Lions including a stellar performance in the Semi-Final shutting down Lachie Whitfield.
An elite athlete who consistently won the Lion’s pre-season time trials, Robertson will add size to the Royals midfield and will look to showcase his ball winning abilities at Leederville Oval.
"Nick is a very exciting recruit for the Club," CEO Dean Turner said.
"He comes to the club as a highly regarded player and person and we can’t wait to see him in action."
Young key back man Corey Watts joins the club straight from the NAB League (formerly TAC Cup) from the Sandringham Dragons. Watts won the 2018 Sandringham Best and Fairest, in front of Carlton recruit Liam Stocker as well as being named the Dragons Best First Year Player.
Watts is known for his intercept marking as well as his impressive one on one ability. His ability to read the ball makes him a valued prospect for the Royals.
