Macreadie Signs with the Royals
The East Perth Football Club is excited to announce our first signing for 2023 with Key Defender Harrison Macreadie signing with the Royals on a two-year deal.
Macreadie, a 198cm, 93kg key defender, has played the last two seasons with Williamstown playing 22 games in the VFL.
Harrison was recruited by Carlton from Henty with pick 47 in the 2016 AFL National Draft after spending time with GWS through their academy.
The 22-year-old debuted in the 2017 season opener against Richmond and played nine AFL games in the navy blue.
‘Harrison has been a player of interest for us for a couple of seasons now and it is great to have him onboard.’ Football Manager Warren Parker said.
‘What excites us most about Harrison is his ability to mark and use the football in defence.’
‘He is a terrific athlete for a big man, and we think that the big grounds in Perth will suit him.’
Harrison was able to visit East Perth for the last match of the season against East Fremantle.
The atmosphere and community involvement were contributing factors to his decision to move to Perth.
‘The players, staff and supporters were very welcoming to myself and my family when we visited, and I believe there is plenty of talent within the group to play finals.’ Harrison said.
He continued ‘I am most excited about day 1 of pre-season and cracking in the first game of the year.’
When asked what does it mean for him to now be a Royal, Harrison said ‘It means to wear your heart on your sleeve, to work hard and enjoy playing footy with your mates, with the ultimate aim to win a Premiership.’
Harrison will move over in November to start pre-season.
Jack Cooley has informed the club he plans to move to Melbourne with the intention to play at Williamstown. We wish Jack all the best and thank him for his three seasons with East Perth.
