The Royal Show
East Perth built a match-winning half time lead to hold off a fast finishing Claremont in wet conditions at the Showgrounds on Saturday.
The Royals kicked six goals to two in the first quarter and another four to one in the second to lead by 49 points at the main break. Claremont then kicked four goals to East Perth’s two behinds in the third cutting the margin to 25 at the last change, with the Royals eventually winning, 12.10 (82) to 10.6 (66), by 16-points.
East Perth lost the hit outs 37 to 42 but were dominant in the middle.
Pat McGinnity gathered a game high 30 touches, Blayne Wilson had 27 from defence. Freddie Clutterbuck had 26, Craig Wulff (24), Steven Payne (23), Brendan Lee (20) and Dom Sheed (20).
Paul Johnson, Josh Hill, Ash Smith and Callum Sinclair kicked two goals, while Josh Smith, Simon Tunbridge, Dom Sheed and Will Maginness kicked singles.
The win makes it seven in a row for the Royals who have a bye this weekend before the Foxtel Cup Semi Final against Williamstown at Patersons Stadium on July 1 and then Peel at Medibank on July 5.
RESERVES
The Reserves 12.13 (85) to 9.10 (64) win was bolstered through a standout performance from Matt Gordon who kicked four goals.
Lewis Wilson, Steven Wityk and Malcolm Karparny kicked two each, while Julian Locantro and Jackson Slater kicked singles.
Locantro (28), Mitch Howlett (26), Dylan Main (22), Tom Shanahan (20) and Karparny (20) were the high possession getters for the Royals.
COLTS
The Colts moved from sixth to fifth on the ladder and are one win out of the top four following their 11.6 (72) to 7.15 (57) win.
Jack Hick kicked three goals, with Linford Smith and Zac Dent contributing with two a piece. Jack Gare, Tyler Keitel, Shayne Hille, Kaine Buckley and Blair Della Franca booted a goal each.
Hille gathered a game high 28 touches, while Dent had 25 and Decke had 17.
