WA State 16s don odd socks for sarcoma awareness
The WA State 16s team will don odd socks during tonight’s trial match against the WA Amateur Football League State Colts at Subiaco Oval to raise awareness and funds for sarcoma research.
This initiative is part of a wider football community effort between the West Perth, Claremont and Subiaco football districts.
Last year the football community managed to raise more than $100,000 which bumped the total amount of money raised over the last four years to more than $30 million.
State 16s to benefit from Banksia Hill trial game
Western Australia’s State 16s will help deliver rehabilitation outcomes while gaining a valuable opportunity to test their skills against a football team from Banksia Hill Juvenile Detention Centre on Saturday, June 9.
The State 16s will play the trial match against Banksia Hill as part of their preparation for the NAB AFL National 16s Championships in June and July.
West Australian Football Commission Executive Manager of Talent and Football Operations Scott Baker said that as well as offering a competitive contest, the game was expected to deliver significant off-field benefits to both groups.
State 18s fight to the finish
Western Australia’s State 18s fell short of Victoria Metro by three goals in an entertaining contest at Optus Stadium today, Sunday, June 10.
Vic Metro won the game 14.10 (94) to 12.4 (76) spearheaded by five goals from key forward Ben King and four goals from Noah Anderson.
Dylan O’Reilly lead the way on the scoreboard for WA with three goals, while Ian Hill and Brad Oldfield kicked two each.
Jeremy Sharp was WA’s best with a goal and 26 possessions. He received great support from Luke Foley with 17 possessions, five tackles and six clearances.
