East Perth Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Pat Watson, a member of the Royals family for more than seventy years.

Pat’s association with East Perth began in 1955 and never really ended. He worked for the club for roughly thirty-nine plus years, and this year he reached fifty years of continuous membership, a milestone we were looking forward to honouring at Saturday’s game.

He went on to spend fifteen years as Fremantle’s first Property Steward. The property room at Fremantle Oval was named in his honour, and it’s a rare thing for a bloke who worked behind the scenes to leave a mark that permanent. Anyone who has spent time in a footy club knows exactly the sort of person he was and knows how much clubs rely on them.

As a mark of respect, East Perth players will wear black armbands over Rounds 16 and 17.

Our thoughts are with Pat’s family and friends, and with everyone at the Club who worked alongside him.
