Players to Watch
Tom North: Coming off a career-best game last week, North has cemented himself as a midfield powerhouse for the Royals. His composure, clearance work, and ability to accumulate the footy make him a game-changer.
Ben Middleton: The key forward returned with impact against Perth, kicking 3.2 and looking dangerous all day. His aerial presence and set-shot ability will be crucial against his former club.
Harrison Macreadie: Strong in defence last week with intercept marks and rebounding efforts. He’ll play a vital role again in containing Peel’s forward threats.
Ethan Regan: Ethan has been called up to the league side for the first time this year. After some strong performances down back in the Reserves, his defensive skills and intercept marking should see him seamlessly fit into the team’s defensive structure.
The Opposition
Peel Thunder have had a mixed start to 2025, with one win, two losses and one draw after four rounds. Despite this, they have the talent to beat anyone on their day, something East Perth knows too well after Peel’s 33-point win over them in last year’s Grand Final. Peel’s squad has undergone some changes this season, but they still have a lot of star power in their team thanks to their alignment with AFL side Fremantle Dockers. Players like Will Brodie, James Aish and Cooper Simpson are some Fremantle players who will play in this game. The Royals can expect to be challenged by this team, but the chance to get revenge on Peel after last year’s Grand Final should help spur the team towards victory.
