East Perth vs Perth - ANZAC Round
Round 6 will see the Royals travel to Lathlain Oval to take on Perth in the Annual ANZAC Day Round. East Perth will be looking to continue their winning streak and even there ledger for the season to 3 wins and three losses.
A win will have the added bonus of seeing the Royals jump into the top five for the first time in 2016. The Demons are coming off a 100 point loss to the undefeated Bulldogs last week and will look to bounce back strongly.
The in-form Royals will look to run Perth off their feet under hot, trying conditions. Steven Payne will play a pivotal role in this plan. Payne, an Augusta-Margaret River product is playing his 100th League game. Big man Paul Johnson will miss the clash due to a family wedding.
The Reserves will be eager to maintain their momentum and spot on top of the ladder against a Perth team that is 0-4 so far this season. The Royals were pushed last week against West Perth, however showed composure and grit to eventually run out 22 point winners.
Our Colts are back to their usual timeslot this week. Last week saw an outstanding individual performance by Sam Powell-Pepper. Touted as a player of the future Sam collected 25 touches and 5 goals in an impressive display. Reigning Jack Clarke Medallist Stan Wright collected a season high 29 possessions under lights at Medibank Stadium. Perth are currently second on the Colts ladder and will be a good test for our young Royals.
