Royals Sign Super 6
It’s been a big week off field at the Royals. Six key players to our 2017 ambitions and beyond have signed new contracts to remain at the East Perth Football Club.
The club is pleased to announce that last year’s Co-Captain Kyle Anderson has signed with the club for a further two years. He will be joined in 2017 by senior player Nathan Blee, young Royals on the rise Callum Hart and Julian Ameduri, 2-time Eric Smith medallist Tom Hodgson and Asher Samelko have also committed to the club in a major boost for the Royals chances in 2017.
After an injury plagued 2016 Kyle Anderson will be keen to re-join the main group and lead from the front. One of the best backmen in the WAFL competition, Andersons leadership as well as his innate ability to win contests and neutralise oppositions attacks will be pivotal to the Royals success in 2017.
The signing of Nathan Blee is another big boost for the club. Blee is a highly talented player having played AFL football for Port Adelaide and being twice in the Top 3 of the FD Book Medal in recent years, he can play on the wing and as a versatile defender and was sought after by several clubs in the off season before recommitting to the Royals this week.
Emerging senior players and leaders Callum Hart and Julian Ameduri are two players keen to cement a permanent spot in the East Perth League team. Both players have played some very good football at senior level over the last couple of seasons. Being able to produce this level of football consistently will be a key for these two local talents.
Tom Hodgson has won consecutive Reserves Best and Fairest and will be keen to add to his one League game from 2015 this season. A hard and relentless midfielder, everyone is confident that when ‘Hodgy’ gets his chance he will take it with both hands. Tall Asher Samelko is a name Royals supporters will get used to hearing over the coming years. Having taken some incredible marks last season, the club is keen to showcase his athletic abilities in 2017.
Royals Football Operations Manager Mark Winnett said “I am rapt to be able to announce these key player re signings to our members and supporters, all 6 of the above-mentioned players are fantastic role models and highly talented footballers and I look forward to strong seasons from them in 2017”
“The attitude of our senior playing group has been nothing short of outstanding in the off season, and all senior/key players are now contracted and ready to begin pre-season training with the football club, I also look forward to the development of our exciting colts group from last season when they join the senior squad for their first senior pre-season in the next week”
Senior training starting on the 21st of November. Membership for 2017 is now open. Join up today by clicking here, over the phone by calling (08) 9443 2259 or call into the club at 246 Vincent Street in Leederville and show you are ‘Black and Blue, Through and Through’
