Match Previews - TABtouch Finals Week 1
THE TABtouch WAFL Finals Series gets underway with weekend with South Fremantle and West Perth looking to book in a meeting with Subiaco while Claremont and East Perth fight to stay alive.
Following an exciting conclusion to the 2018 WAFL season where going into the final round three teams were all still competing for fifth position before East Perth won to eliminate both Perth and Peel Thunder.
The excitement didn’t end there with Claremont needing to beat Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval to secure a home final this weekend. It took the Tigers until the last kick of the game after the siren but Jye Bolton kicked truly for Claremont to win and secure home ground advantage.
While Subiaco has the opening week bye to start the finals campaign after their remarkable 18-0 season, the two games this weekend loom as can't miss affairs.
It gets underway on Saturday afternoon with the qualifying final at Fremantle Community Bank Oval between South Fremantle and West Perth.
The winner will advance to play Subiaco in next Sunday's second semi-final at Leederville Oval while the loser will play host also next Sunday to the winner of Sunday's elimination final.
That elimination final will take place at Claremont Oval with Claremont hosting East Perth. The winner will then take on the loser of the qualifying final while the season will be over for the loser.
Both matches will be televised live on Channel 7 from 2.30pm on Saturday and Sunday afternoon along with being broadcast by ABC Radio and 91.3 SportFM. KIX Digital, Noongar Radio and Footy Radio will also be available for Saturday's qualifying final.
Meanwhile in the reserves, West Perth plays Swan Districts in the elimination final at Fremantle Community Bank Oval for the right to advance to play the loser of Sunday's qualifying final.
The qualifying final will take place on Sunday at Claremont Oval with East Perth playing Claremont with the winner to play Subiaco in the second semi-final next Sunday at Leederville Oval.
And in the colts, the elimination final takes place at Fremantle Community Bank Oval between East Fremantle and South Fremantle with the winner to play the loser of Sunday's qualifying final.
The colts qualifying final takes place at Claremont Oval between Peel Thunder and Swan Districts with the winner to take on Subiaco in next Sunday's second semi-final at Leederville Oval.
