East Perth vs West Perth Derby Members Memories
Thank you to everyone who shared their favourite memories of the East Perth vs West Perth Derbies. We are excited to announce the 5 winners of double passes to this Monday’s Derby are:
@Jonosmowing via Instagram “watching Chris Judd carve up the garlic munchers with 4 goals in his 1st & only appearance for the Royals. And smashing ‘em in 2002 Grand Final by 10 goals.”
David Schildkraut via Email “ The last game of the 1978 season at Leederville which was then WP’s home ground where I was part of the nearly 25,000 who saw us beat the Cardies to win our seventh game in a row and qualify for the finals. At the beginning of the game we were in fifth place and at end of the game we were in third place with Claremont ahead of Perth and looking like finishing second. Everyone was glued to their radios to hear Perth kick two late goals at Lathlain and win seeing Claremont drop out of the four and EP finish second and go on to win the premiership. The atmosphere at the ground that day was the best at any game I’ve been to anywhere.”
Sheryl McKnight via Facebook “I Loved the derby round 21, 1978. The win got us into the four and we went on win the premiership. Was a record crown, the atmosphere was awesome.
Perry Joseph Moloney via Facebook. “Barry Cables tackle on John Duckworth, what a beauty and then he hung on for dear life when Duckworth went ape.”
Luc Del Casale vis Facebook. “Les Fong was my hero.. couldn’t be stopped… and he was short but built like the outdoor dunny.”
Be sure to head down to Leederville Oval Monday 3rd June for the annual WA Day Derby!! Wear your Black and Blue and support our boys!
