Round 18 East Perth vs Perth
Tale of the Tape – A disappointing outing versus the old enemy last week will surely fire up a near full strength Royals who take on Perth for the first time in season 2021. A 5-goal-to-none last quarter will give East Perth a level of confidence that their game style can result in fast ball movement and quick goal scoring.
Perth have had an indifferent season, winning games they were expected to lose yet been found wanting in a number of other contests throughout the year.
A loss for either team will put them 9th on the ladder
Both teams will wear their NAIDOC Jumpers and take part in a ceremony before the League match
The Ins and Outs – For the first time in 2021 the Royals will go in unchanged. Impressive performances from Harley Sparks and young forward Sebit Kuek along with several others in the Reserves placing pressure on those in the League side to perform.
Chris Masten announced his retirement during the week and is a significant out for the Demons, whilst Brant Colledge and Regan Clarke have also been omitted. Amongst the extended bench named are recruit Oscar Bird, veteran Brent Edmonds and ruckman Christian Eyres.
Last time they met – 2nd gamer Logan McDonald took the game against the Royals. A rampaging start meant the East Perth were always behind the 8-ball. An unlikely comeback loomed as the Royals drew within a goal late in the game, however Perth steadied to eventually run out 21-point winners, in what would be the difference between which team would play finals in 2020.
Stat of the Week – Kyle Anderson’s goal after the siren in 2018 is the last time the Royals beat Perth, with the Demons winning the past 3 clashes
