East Perth and Perth College Launch Partnership
Perth College and the East Perth Football Club have joined forces to provide football programs for their students.
All Perth College Junior School students as well as Year 9 and 10 students will be involved in football development and participation programs headed up by the Club’s Community Engagement and Pathways Coordinator Angus Schumacher and Club Captain Jackson Ramsay.
Perth College Head of Sport Development and Performance, Adam Selwood, is delighted with football partnership and feels it will only benefit both communities for years come. ‘The genuine interest and investment from the East Perth Football Club to grow AFL participation within our school has been fantastic to see. The opportunities for our students to be connected to a thriving sport and continue this engagement within East Perth District is the key to developing sustainable pathway programs’ the former West Coast Eagles Head of AFLW said.
Perth College has had an increasing interest and growth in participation for football in recent years, this has been strengthened by football being introduced as an official IGSSA sport in Term 1 2022, to mirror the AFLW competition.
‘This is a fantastic opportunity for the Club to be involved in growing our great game through our metro District.’ CEO Dean Turner said of the new partnership.
Mr Turner continued ‘Being able to introduce and encourage girls from the area to participate in football programs and encourage them to join their local community clubs will continue to strengthen our thriving female football pathway.’
