Football Department Update | March 11
SENIOR MEN'S (LEAGUE & RESERVES) FOOTBALL DEPARTMENT UPDATE
by Warren Parker, Football Operations Manager
PRESEASON RECAP
The preseason is finally coming to an end, and Practice Matches are about to get into full swing as we prepare for Round 1 on Good Friday v Swan Districts (7 April).
We’ve had a solid preseason and feel that the players have made some significant gains which will hold us in good stead for the season ahead. Our new recruits are slotting in nicely and our returning players are hitting their straps.
The new look coaching group led by Ross McQueen has been working hard to continue the development of our talented youth players while fast tracking our senior players and recruits on the game plan and structures as we prepare for competition in the coming weeks.
We’ll kick off our campaign with an Intra-Club Match tonight (Friday 10th March) at Leederville Oval followed by South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday 18th March. The League Side will then play West Coast (WAFL) at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday 25th March while the Reserves will host Mt Lawley at Leederville Oval on Sunday 26th before we hit season 2023 proper on Good Friday.

WAFLW FOOTBALL DEPARTMENT UPDATE
by Angus Schumacher, Football Operations Manager - Women's
PREVIOUS RESULTS
We have had two Practice Matches in both WAFLW League and Rogers Cup in the lead up to Round One, against West Perth and reigning WAFLW League Premiers, Claremont. This has given us a great scope on the season ahead and allowed us to get a good look at all our inaugural players in the WAFLW, as we embark on our first ever campaign.
WAFLW: PM2 v Claremont
East Perth: 0.1 - 1
Claremont: 12.13 – 85
A great final hit out, and massive test versus the reigning premiers – led well all day by our inaugural captain Jess Valvasori, the players were given a firsthand look at what it takes to be a supreme WAFLW outfit.
ROGERS CUP: PM2 v Claremont
East Perth: 3.2 - 20
Claremont: 6.9: 45
Missing some of our key players heading into the final practice match, our Rogers Cup girls had a great match against Claremont, in what was the perfect tune up heading into Rd 1 versus WP.
