East Perth end Sharks six game run
EAST Perth have made it nine from their past nine, downing East Fremantle by 28-points, 14.20 (104) to 11.10 (76), and ending the Sharks six game winning run at Medibank Stadium on Saturday.
The Royals got an early break on the Sharks with five goals to two in the first quarter, but East Fremantle had closed the deficit to 16 points by half-time and gained the lead momentarily during the third, before Fraser McInnes kicked a goal just before the three quarter time siren, that had the Royals ahead by just three points at the final change.
East Perth steadied in the final term to dominate, scoring five goals to take a 40-point lead, before the Sharks kicked the last two with East Perth winning by 28 points.
Fraser McInnes booted three goals. While Matt Gordon, Mal Karpany, Jamie Cripps and Josh Hill booted two goals each.
Reigning Bernie Naylor Medallist, Josh Smith kicked one goal along with Mitch Howlett and Jamie Bennell.
Co-captains Craig Wulff and Brendan Lee led the midfield brigade. Wulff collected a game high 36 possessions and six inside 50s, Lee had 28 touches and six tackles. Sharrod Wellingham gathered 26, Mitch Howlett 22, Steven Payne 21, Dean Cadwallader 20 and Nathan Blee 19.
The Royals will have this weekend off before they meet with West Perth at Medibank Stadium on Saturday, July 26.
RESERVES
Dan Allsop kicked three goals in the Reserves, 9.13 (67) to 12.12 (84), loss.
Locantro kicked two goals to go with 34 disposals and six inside 50s, while Julian Ameduri, Wilson Thomas, Brendan Fisher and Alex Vernon kicked singles.
Tom Shanahan had 30 possessions, Dylan Main had 29 and eight tackes and Jackson Slater had 21.
COLTS
The Colts entered the top four following their, 13.8 (86) to 7.4 (46), 40-point win.
Tyler Keitel kicked three goals. Mitch Dobson, Zac Dent and Peter Modica kicked two. Jack Hick, Kane Hadden, Shayne Hille and Will Young kicked a goal each.
Hille collected 27 possessions, Zambotto 22 and Dent 21.
