Payne claims FD Book Medal

Midfielder Steven Payne has claimed his first FD Book Medal, taking out the best and fairest league award by three votes over captain Craig Wulff in one of the closest medal counts in recent years.

Payne who made his league debut in 2011, averaged 25 disposals, playing the maximum possible 22 games.

Following each round in 2014, coach Brian Dawson awarded players for their performance on a scale of 0-5.

Payne finished on 63 votes, Craig Wulff was runner up with 60 votes, Nathan Blee received third place with 58 and Fraser McInnes and Paul Johnson tied for fourth with 56 votes.

Kyle Anderson was awarded Best Clubman and also recieved the Ken McAullay Medal as the best player in the grand final. Josh Smith was again awarded the Leading Goal Kicker. Steven Payne also received the George Law Trainers Award and Will Maginness took home the Best First Year Player Award.

Julian Ameduri was awarded the Eric Smith Medal for the best and fairest Reserves player. He received 50 votes, with just one vote seperating first and second place. Jackson Slater was runner up (49), Tom Shanahan was third with 45 votes, Jacob Payne collected 42 votes and fourth place.

In the Colts, Shayne Hille was awarded the Hec Strempel Medal for the best and fairest player with 57 votes. Kester Decke and Kane Haddon were joint runners up with 53. Ryan Oxtoby received the Best Clubman award.
