Johnson Named State Captain
For the 5th time in 6 years the captain of the WA team is a Royal. Ruckman Paul Johnson has been named as captain for the clash against South Australia at Lathlain Oval tomorrow. It will the 2nd time Paul has lead the State, having been chosen as captain for the 2013 clash.
It is fantastic recoginition for Johnno who continues to be the dominant big man in the WAFL competition. WA will be looking to the 2012 Simpson Medallist to lead from the front and impose himself at the stoppages and around the ground against an impressive SANFL side.
Both states have named teams of 24 for the game including emergencies. The WAFL's sqaud has been cut from 27, with 2014 State captain Brendan Lee (East Perth) withdrawing due to injury concerns last night and talented pair Leroy Jetta (Peel) and Chris Keunen (West Perth) both unlucky to miss out on selection.
The game kicks off at 2.15pm on Saturday at Lathlain Park.and will be broadcast via live stream on the WAFL website, hosted by WAFL commentator Glenn Mitchell and South Australian commentator Phil Aspinall, with expert comments from former Subiaco leading goal kicker Rod Willett.
The game will also be broadcast on radio by Sport FM 91.3fm.
Tickets to the game can be purchased at the gate: Adults $15, WAFL Club members/Concession $12, Child under 16 FREE, Student Edge 2 for 1.
