Johnson leads WA to win over SANFL
Paul Johnson has guided the WA State team to a convincing 45-point win against SANFL on Saturday at Lathlain Park. Head-to-head, both State’s had each won 46 games but Saturday’s victory edged WA out to 47 and will go down in the record books as one of the biggest margins of all time between the two sides.
The WAFL State side went into the 2015 State match with a team full of running power sent out to take advantage of the wide expanses of Lathlain Park, and that plan worked a treat in the eventual 18.13 (121) to 11.10 (76) victory. The Simpson Medal was awarded to Swans District’s, Ryan Davis who booted five goals and had 25 possessions, 10 inside 50s and 8 marks.
WA Footy is thriving at the moment with the Dockers and Eagles sitting at the top of the AFL ladder, the WA State team were outstanding as was the 18’s outfit that also secured a win. It’s a great time for WA footy and it’s great to see East Perth players being recognised for their talent. A total of 14 Royals players were named in State squads from the 16’s through to the League side, which is a testament to the coaching staff here at East Perth.
Make sure you get down to Medibank Stadium this Saturday to catch the 18’s State team take on Vic Country and again on Monday for the derby against West Perth!
