East Perth Statement On WADA Ruling
East Perth’s Brendan Lee is one of the 34 current and former Essendon players affected by today’s decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The Club will be talking with Brendan today to fully understand the implications and once we have all the details look to see how we can assist him. We all need to understand how devastating this is for Brendan and look to support him during this difficult time.
Under today’s ruling, the players will serve a season's ban nearly three years after the investigation began.
They have been found to have used the banned substance Thymosin beta-4 during the 2012 season.
The verdict by the Court overturned the AFL anti-doping tribunal’s ruling which was later appealed by WADA.
It has been reported the CAS was comfortably satisfied there was enough evidence to suggest the players took the banned substance in 2012.
