About the role
About Us
The East Perth Football Club (the Royals) is one of the most storied clubs in the West Australian Football League. We aim to be the most professional club in the WAFL, with a values-led culture where players, coaches and support staff can perform at their best and reach their goals.
Our Talent Department exists to get the most out of talented young players from our Metro and Regional Zones. We give them structure, education and exposure to WAFL/W standards, with a clear pathway into our senior programs and on to the elite level (AFLW and WAFLW).
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Female Football Manager, and working closely with the Senior Women’s Coach, the WAFLW Rogers Cup Head Coach leads the Royals’ Rogers Cup program for the 2027 season.
This is a key pathway role. You’ll develop the next generation of East Perth senior women’s footballers and lead a connected program across our Metro and Southwest squads. The program needs to be both elite and enjoyable, and fully aligned with our Senior Women’s Program, so players can step up into senior football with confidence.
What You’ll Do
- Training program: Plan and deliver a Rogers Cup–level training program that balances skill acquisition, strategy, strength and conditioning, and personal development. It should cater for rehabilitating players and those with school, academy or regional commitments.
- Match-day operations: Prepare and implement team strategies, roles and rules that match the Senior Women’s Program’s game plan and terminology. Lead the coaching box with clear, educational communication.
- Player feedback and communication: Give players timely written, verbal and visual feedback, including post-match reports. Work with parents and families on development, debuts, transitions and program expectations.
- Squad management: Work with the Female Football Manager on squad and match-day selection, in line with the club’s Selection Policy. Hold post-season reviews and maintain an Individual Development Plan for every player.
- Talent identification: Attend State Academy, school, IGSSA, junior, regional and amateur fixtures to track players and find new talent. Help build our scouting networks and work closely with the MDS program.
- Metro and Southwest connection: Travel to Southwest Academy sessions from time to time. Work with the Southwest Head Coach and help players move smoothly between squads.
- Staff leadership: Help recruit coaching and support staff, then lead, develop and keep them. Build a positive and enjoyable environment.
- Club and community development: Help grow coaching across our Metro and Regional Zones, attend club functions, and represent the Royals professionally in the media.
What We Are Looking For

- A Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation as a minimum (Level 3, or working towards it, is desirable)

- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, including with players, parents, schools and pathway partners
- High-level verbal, written and computer skills
- The ability to manage your own time, work independently, and work outside normal business hours
- A current Senior First Aid Certificate, Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
- Coaching experience within the elite WA or AFL player pathway, and working knowledge of Sportscode and/or Hudl
