Royals Continue to Relish
More than 1,400 people braved the hail, rain and wet weather in Leederville to witness another enthralling game of football for the “Count Me In” clash between East Perth and Claremont. The Royals didn’t disappoint, beating the Tigers by ten points in another show stopping finish. The win means East Perth hold onto fourth spot and live to fight another week in the race towards the finals.

Royal Flush
East Perth had a field day on Sunday afternoon winning all three grades infront of a 3,000 strong crowd at Medibank Stadium. Teenager Tom Lamb kicked the winning goal in the final minute of the match to seal the victory for the mighty Royals. East Perth now move to outright fourth on the ladder and look promising for a final five finish. The win for the Reserves means they maintain fifth spot on the table and are two wins clear of Claremont in sixth. The Colts boys also pulled off a hard-fought win, but they face an uphill battle if they're to make a bid for the finals. It has been a topsy turvy season for East Perth, but they are gaining momentum at a pivotal point in the competition. It will be a testing run home, however a win against Claremont this weekend should provide some desireable breathing space for the Royals.
The Road To The 1927 Premiership
By Bill Forrest
The 1927 premiership was only won after several strenuous matches with other League teams. The football produced during the season was of the highest order. Of the seven teams who took part during the season, all, with the exception of Claremont-Cottesloe, exhibited such a high standard of football that would have entitled them to a position in the final four, but fate decreed that East Perth, East Fremantle, South Fremantle and Subiaco should share the honour. So well did East Perth play during the season, losing only four games, that it was successful in winning the Minor Premiership, and this honour was a deciding factor which enabled the club to win the premiership.
Stayin' alive
East Perth’s season is still alive after a scrappy, but effective 20-point win over the Perth Demons at Medibank Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Despite several costly mistakes there were also bouts of positives for the Royals who found their feet late in the game to secure four crucial competition points. Half-back, Garry Moss was sound as always and led the disposals with 30 touches. Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls put in an audacious performance and generated a much-needed boost of confidence for East Perth by taking eleven marks and scoring three goals. The Royals are one win shy of the top five and will be looking to substitute South Fremantle in fifth position with a victory in their round 18 clash this weekend.
Syd Jackson inducted into WA Football Hall of Fame
From the tiny community of Leonora to East Perth and Carlton, Syd Jackson has had a colourful life and a successful career in football which saw him inducted into the WA Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday, July 15 at the State Reception Centre in King's Park, Perth.
Syd Jackson's brilliant ball handling and kicking skills helped earn him the reputation as one of the games most gifted and dangerous players to grace a football field. Jackson played 104 games for the Royals, kicked 78 goals and was the club's best and fairest in 1966. He played five seasons of WAFL football and was named in East Perth's 'Team of the Century 1945 - 2005'. A key feature for the East Perth lineup, Jackson was quickly picked up by the Carlton Football Club where he went on to play in two grand finals (1970 & 1972) and represented Australia in the 1968 Football World Tour as part of the "Galahs".

NAIDOC Round served up another thrilling game of football between last year’s grand finalists East Perth and Subiaco, but that feeling of disappointment is becoming too familiar for the Royals who suffered another devastating loss. The 23-point victory for the Lions means they remain on top of the table and sit three games clear of second, whilst East Perth are seventh after their second hard fought loss in a row.
